If there’s one thing that I hate about myself it’s my history of debilitating shyness. In fact, it’s something I was chatting with my counsellor about just a matter of weeks ago. I said I was so ANGRY with young, shy me. I wanted to look back on a teenager who was punk rock, riotous and out there. A teenager who stood up for herself and who knew how to get what she wanted.
Love this. Can relate to so much of it! Instead of PR my previous career was hospitality-playing hostess, chatting to new people all the time, presenting a confident and bubbly front. Exhausted from forced peopleing, I too turned to self medication in various ways outside of work to keep that persona going, thinking that's how I should be. Now I find my shyness comes and goes in waves depending on the comfort zones I'm in.

This sounds all too familiar! 😱
